You are getting there, Doc. The central bankers aren't stupid. They have always known the dollar had an end time because the debt would grow exponentially and be unpayable. Look at the Euro. Mark to market gold reserves sitting there waiting patiently to extinguish all of that debt. They are listed at fractionally reserved gold prices right now, mind you, but not when the dam bursts. No counter-party risk, no paper liabilities attached, a true gold price built to settle trade and extinguish debt imbalances. Its much higher than most would imagine...mind numbing, actually ; )

The gold market is as opaque as it comes. The key questions are, did they buy allocated in the vault, is it leaving the reserve pool of the fractionally reserved system in London, and if so, how much did they really pay for 300 tons of gold ; )

I suspect right now, that they are trying to get the gold where it needs to go to reboot the system. Reserves are low and every ounce coming out of the ground is being snapped up.

Unless there is an organized plan to reduce the debt load, the central bankers will print all of the currencies into oblivion. It has happened in every single case. Because they have kicked the can so far down the road, they are in the unfortunate quandary of print money or die.

Why you might ask....simply because overly expanded balance sheet money can't be allowed to default any longer. Just like Lehman, where they go one they go all.

Another important factor is that digital money is credit money. Credit money will cease to function when prices are rising too fast to adjust, but the bank balance sheets will appear solvent on paper. That is why if this plays itself out naturally, you will need wheelbarrows to go to lunch. Just like in Germany and Zimbabwe.

Well I certainly can't pretend to know what is going on behind the scenes. However, I do know that they put the Euro together because they knew the dollar was tenuous. That was 20 years ago. Not only that, the Euro is designed to thrive in a free floating physical gold market. They mark their reserves to the current paper price so that when then the debt go poof and the paper liabilities tied to gold go with it, they will have a robust and beautifully reserved currency that will survive the hyperinflation of all currencies. That's structurally speaking. What the goons in dark rooms have been doing since then is anyone's guess, but the gold has been flowing where its needed in preparation...

There are just playing whack-a-mole to get anything out that they are able...inflation in the United States is now primarily the byproduct of a reduction in dollar holdings by the nations that make all of the stuff Uncle Sam spends money he don't have to buy. They can choose: Door A - raise rates and let the markets implode; Door B hyperinflation....in the end, they will always choose Door B...the fact that the market's only viable signal is the FED is a travesty to humanity! (Of course, I'm assuming this hasn't all been worked out behind the scenes, but even then they need to arrive at the same place to have a fair and balanced platform for trade going forward - that is why gold is the key. Its what the super-producers want for their goods ; )) Especially after this dollar goat rodeo.
