I've see squirrels my whole life ... all seasons ... NEVER saw one as ... 'bulked up' as this one.

And actually 'bulked up' implies *muscle* to me .. whereas the 'bulk' on this squirrel is flopping around, wagging back and forth as it moves .. just like FAT would do .. not muscle.

Looks like it's someone's pet who simply overfeeds it. Probably doesn't get out to climb trees like it would.

ie .. doesn't get enough exercise.

Same thing happens to people who eat too much and don't exercise.

Can happen without all the chemicals in foods these days as well.

Though obesity is more common today due to toxic non food it's been around a LONG time before now.
