I've guinea pigged myself on natural ways since early 70s and I whole heartedly support that approach as long as you do your homework. It has served me very well. Over the years I've watched the medical establishment's dismal failure, error, ignorance and corruption exposed more and more. Completely clueless w/ chronic diseases etc.
I'm 74 and never been on any medications whatsoever except for a couple rounds of antibiotics. Once for a brown recluse bite I went the wrong way with last year and something so long ago I can't even remember!
And if you can find a good naturopath to work with even better imo.
