Loved one went in for appendix removal and kept her waiting in ER for over 8 hours. After complaining enough she finds out she wasn't even on the schedule. Had to wait to the morning by this time. Bacteria effected the colon and intestine overnight and now has an 8 inch scar when it should have been to little ones. She is pissed.
In ICU right now recovering.

Once, back in 1998, a very, very, very wise and healthy 92 yo woman warned me to "Stay away from hospitals and doctors. They will kill you." When I laughed she took both my hands, looked into my eyes and said, "I am not joking." Happily for me, I believed her. Unfortunately, some of my loved ones did not, to their detriment. That said, there are occasions when we must go in for repairs and, sadly, extreme diligence is needed. These visits can be tricky. So sorry your Loved one had to go through this.

Look up, Intrahepatic Gallbladder. Almost took me out. First surgeon fibbed when he claimed to have removed my gallbladder. It was so bad that he decided to fudge my record of his incompetent surgical ability. He went so far as to write in 0 weight of alleged organ removal on the operation report. 20 PLUS years later, and decades of excruciatingly painful gastritis and pancreatitis, I ended up going out of network to UH Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. The head of hematology was EAGER to crack me open, bcuz he had never seen a gallbladder fully embedded in a liver before. Remember, this is Ohio. If a patient is harmed by the incompetence of the medical field, that parient only has 2 YEARS to sue for negligence. For decades I was told that my gallbladder had been surgically removed, per medical records. Who was I to question a medical professional?
Just my 2 cents, Vincent. Get your loved one OUT of that medical facility as soon as you can, and take care of her, as soon as she is able

Your loved one is lucky to be alive, could have easily died from sepsis. I am so disappointed in our medical community. I don’t trust any of them at this point....and many are friends. :(

Same happened here. Ruptured appendix, writhing in pain when got to ER. Sat there for 10 hours before surgery. They did dope me up pretty good though. Didn't go to ICU but was in room for a week. Had a drain in and when they pulled it out felt like my colon was coming out with it. Took a while to recover. Large scar. Scar tissue inside was excruciating at times during certain activities. Prayers for a speedy and uneventful recovery

Yep that's what you call great ER triaging 😓🤨😣 I hope the best for your loved one. Definitely have to be their advocates. Had experience long ago with my son, couldn't breath well, ER at 2:30 by 9:30 still not seen, humped over in chair struggling, checked triage nurse and asked why he wasn't being seen, said people more important like those with pneumonia, etc are seen first, stated to her well that's what my son has, she looked at me then at him and got him in right away. Stayed in ER overnight till bed became available on floor, had RT treatment wasn't helping, bloated with fluid, surgeon saw him put chest tube in him and drained 5 liters of fluid off his lungs. They couldn't believe, he survived. Was in hospial 13 days, then later had a thoracotomy due to lung wouldn't inflate. Western Medicine at it's best for sure. 😓😓

It would be prudent to notify the clinical manager of the ER, the hospital administrator and the Medical Director about this harmful delay. This delay could have cost your loved ones life. This is considered an emergent condition. The delay also made it necessary for an ICU admission. The hospital should be held accountable.
I’m sorry this happened to her. May she have a complete healing. Unfortunately our hospitals suck. I lost my mind once in an ER, I’m surprised I didn’t get escorted out. My dad was in the hallway on a cot for 3 days and was never given any of his meds for 3 days! We paged his cardiologist to come sign him out. He did. we took him home. Makes me wonder 1) why they were holding him there (he had no treatment) 2) if he ever really needed all those meds? (@ 10+ pills a day).
Yup, similar has happened to my dad too. Sadly. Especially the unnecessary meds.
