Dear Lord, our human minds are limited in understanding Your thoughts and actions. We are content to trust You and Your desire to love us faithfully. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Night Inspiration-Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024

Our minds are incapable of evaluating the measurements of the universe, so it's within reason that we cannot explain the actions of God. His wisdom is far above ours; it's impractical to compare our behavior to His. God will love when we do not. He will show mercy and compassion when we cannot; He remains patient in circumstances we find frustrating; He never gives up on people we have left behind. He is all-powerful, all-present and His knowledge is beyond our comprehension.

God, in every situation and every season, You are good and You are God. Although I currently feel weary and worn, I know that You are with me and that You give me the strength to endure the hardest of situations and seasons.

So I surrender all that I am to You. Replace my mistakes with more of Your presence.

DECLUTTER MY LIFE

God, You know everything about me. You know the areas of my life that have potential but are being held back by broken habits and belief systems. Please bring clarity and healing to my life by cutting away anything that is cluttering or destroying my heart and mind. Transform me so that way I continue to bear healthy fruit. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Jesus, thank You for loving me unconditionally. Thank You for coming to earth to rescue me. I want to love You the way that You love me. I know that this isn't easy. HOW ARE YOU FILLING YOUR HEART?

Have you ever made a poor decision and thought - "why did I do that?"

In the Old Testament, the heart was considered the center of inner life, and people believed it dictated thoughts, emotions, and actions. It was essentially a combination of someone's soul and mind.

When Proverbs 4:23 tells us to "guard our hearts" what it's essentially saying is-"pay careful attention to how you fill your inner life."

What goes into your soul and mind determines what comes out of your mouth. And what you say influences your actions and decisions. While you might not notice the effect your choices have on you today-over time, they will impact the direction of your life.

So how do we intentionally take care of inner lives?

AN UNEVEN SPLIT

I used to run a discussion group with one of my best friends. This group would meet once a week and discuss various topics that were important to us, and the two of us gained a bit of notoriety due to the success of the group. My friend left for a while and I had to run the group on my own, and when he came back, I was so busy with other things that I was not as involved as I was previously. There were multiple occasions where we argued about who was more important to the group and who was "in charge" of the group. We decided to "agree to disagree" and didn't talk about the group dynamics anymore. The damage had been done, however, and our friendship and the group suffered as a result of our foolish pride.
