Over the course of 18 minutes, the vice president criticized European countries' handling of the past few years. In particular, he took aim at the decline in freedom of speech, immigration and the war between Ukraine and Russia, among other things.
Vance made it clear that, for the United States, the greatest threat facing Europe is not China or Russia, but its own retreat in "its most fundamental values."
At the same time, he took the luxury of briefly joking about the complaints of some European leaders about the expressions of Elon Musk on X. "Believe me, I say this with all humor. If American democracy can survive ten years of nagging from Greta Thunberg, you can survive a few months of Elon Musk," he noted.
