CALLED TO CONTENTMENT

Observing Sabbath-rest allows us to step into the same rhythm God established in creating the world. Scripture tells us when God rested from His work, it was because His work, was complete (Genesis 2:1). God took joy in His accomplishment.

In Hebrews 4:10, the writer draws a parallel between God's rest and ours: "for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his." We're invited to delight in His presence and share in God's divine contentment.

God, thank You for being faithful to me every day. Even in the midst of suffering, pain, and sickness. You have sustained me and kept me. Although things don't always go how I might like, I praise You in the midst of my circumstances. Please help me grow in my awareness of Your sustaining presence, and continue to praise You daily. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

God, thank You for giving me the greatest gift imaginable-salvation through Jesus Christ. Help me to cultivate a heart of giving and helping those who are in need. Open my eyes to see opportunities to share Your love with those who do not know You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Some Christians have a hard time with the doctrine of grace. They think, It just seems too easy to say, “Believe in Jesus and you’re accepted no matter what you do.” To please God, shouldn’t believers have to live a certain way? This reasoning mixes legalism with grace by saying, “Sure, we are saved by grace, but after salvation, you’d better follow the rules to stay in God’s favor.” Such thinking misses the point of grace and the message of hope.

Grace is a greater motivator than law (2 Corinthians 4:15-17). If you think you must perform in order to please God, guilt is your constant companion. Every time you fail to live up to your own expectations, you may question whether God loves you—or maybe even whether you’re really saved. The Lord doesn’t want us to live like this. We’ve already received His acceptance

Amen. I pray this morning for all families divided who are struggling. I pray for moms and children trapped in abusive relationships because of this awful economy. I pray for everyone with ptsd and families living with broken people. I pray that GOD sees those struggling and brings relief and comfort. Amen.

Lord, in my weakness I sometimes yearn for the things that I've left behind, and the life that You rescued me from. It is easy to forget how heavy the chains of bondage once were. Help me Lord, to take comfort in Your bonds of love, and to not forget that it is You who gives me comfort on our journey together. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Where the Lord leads us, He leads us with kindness. He does not burden us with the chains of slavery or the yoke of beasts. Instead, He binds us with love, cherishing us as His beloved creation, caring for our needs as we proceed through this life with Him. It may seem uncomfortable when He leads us away from the familiar, but we can be sure that where He leads us is good, and that He remains with us.

DO YOU BELIEVE?

Brought out of slavery in Egypt. Saved from lions. Victorious in battle. The Word of God is full of stories of deliverance, full of accounts of God showing Himself strong as the Deliverer of His people. He hears His people's cry. He delivers them from their distress. We see it again and again.

But, do you believe it?

Do you truly believe God rescued an entire community from slavery and delivered them from a pursuing army by creating a pathway through the sea? Do you believe He's the same God you can speak to right now?
