I spoke briefly with a long-time friend's mother today. Very nice lady, but very liberal. She brought up that she had been downtown and there was a protest going on, and she was really happy and excited that so many people were protesting. I just smiled and said nothing, knowing that any conversation we might have on the subject wouldn't probably be very productive, and it might ruin both of our moods. But the last thing she said to me, in a somewhat joking manner on the way out was, "I'm sure glad that ICE didn't get me!". I said, "Me, too!".
