This is/was not a bad place when I moved here and I do not believe it is all blue here either, more that the corruption has been allowed to fester, which hopefully will soon sort itself out. That does not mean I will stay for the long term, only that I am still here for now and it could be for good reason in the grand scheme of things. I have family here who will possibly need some serious help. Nothing can be simple, yet I believe I am divinely protected (which is not naïveté, just a decent amount of faith mixed with common sense and a little bit of street smarts).

I actually do dream of simpler times and perhaps even living in the country again. Time will tell that story!

For now, I complain of the crazy, point to the obvious, and do what I can. Everything is changing, I can feel it. I do believe we all have a future which is so vibrant and full of God’s grace. We are not there quite yet, but it is coming.

The changes in the Denver/Aurora area since 2020 are beyond the pale. I used to captain more than one pool team (billiards) which would put me and my team members in bars all over this local area, late into the evening. I used to drive from downtown at work in time to pick up our paperwork and then return the completed paperwork with dues money in an envelope to a central drop spot each night after our weekly league event(s) were completed. I also used to run pool tournaments. Once we went into the covid lockdowns all of that essentially stopped. Even when the lockdowns were lifted, I did not solicit our sponsor bars nor our team members to reengage, admittedly because I wanted to remember all my friends as they once were, not as political fodder. I could sense a change.

Now, current day, I am highly tuned into situational awareness to even go to a grocery store in broad daylight.

It is astounding at times, that the loons who hang their eyes and ears on the TV, tell me conflicting things on the regular. One day it is, “yes, we do absolutely deport for violent crimes, Denver is not a sanctuary city you know, and no, you will not find it in any of their by-laws” then they flip the script and say other things which do not align, then they drift off into some self-absorbed example of what happened to them once a long time ago, which has none-what-so-ever a connection to the topic at hand… before I can even add, “nobody would be dumb enough to add a by-law as written proof that they would choose to not enforce a federal law” …just as the news is reporting on yet another repeat offender who apparently never did get deported the first or second time they did whatever it is the figment of my imagination did. So we just have to talk louder than the TV in the background.

I half agree. Unfortunately I have family here who would chomp at the bit for it… and protest for free. Two aunts, who while on vacation together some years ago, stopped what they were doing to throw on pussy hats and partake in a local march for something or other. It makes them proud and preachy. I think they still believe we are in the nineteen-sixties and they have a feminist type of mission to fulfill. I am actually surprised that they are not booking four year cruises as we speak. I hope “moron” is not on the menu for Thanksgiving dinner, but then I always manage to muster this same degree of hope every year, knowing that my hopes can be shattered at the first side-eye of an opportunistic segway statement. It is predictable. I will be outnumbered, yet somewhat entertained to “know what I know” while trying to remain focused on the refilling of my coffee cup. Hope springs eternal that I can help them understand someday. Pragmatism tells me I cannot help them. Yet, I stand ready.

It has been a wild ride for sure. If you would have said “any one thing we have discovered by digging” to me ten, twenty, or thirty years ago, my reaction would have been notably different in each case. In this day, I no longer see it taking a decade, a year, nor even a month, a week, or a day to expand my thinking. We are not there yet, BUT it is seeming more fluid for me to get factoids and little tidbits, let them simmer in the background, and then see what resonates when it is sort of “done processing” in my subconscious. I cannot explain it much better than I just did really. I actually like it when I can flip back to an ah-ha moment and realize it is actually a much bigger ah-ha.

I am honored to have all my AU frens to bounce stuff around. This is such a luxury to speak my mind (while living in a strange big city). All I want to do is get back to joy and creativity, a serious yearning for the simpler life. We have won, God wins! The mop up is gross. All is well 😎

What is a crime and how does crime affect other people who just want to be safe or keep what is theirs from being stolen or damaged? We can interpret Title 8 USC 1324 to mean people who are inside our country without authorization, as well as those transporting them, those harboring them, those providing assistance for them, or those shielding them from detection… to be criminals punishable by fines and jail time. That said, protecting a city, protecting citizens, and investigating crime could be severely impacted by ordering a police force to thwart federal law instead of affording them full use of resources and thus depending on ICE to handle the burden of those who have already committed violent crimes. At a bare minimum, federal funding can be cut from our state if our elected officials do not comprehend what is at stake.”
