I have been studying glutathione for two years - I have found OTC supplements don't work since your stomach acid blocks the glutathione supplement distribution. Milk thistle and selenium supplements promote glutathione production within your body. The best food source I have found with the highest glutathione is non-alcoholic beer - and the product with the highest glutathione content is Stella Artois. I drink one every day, along with eating one brazil nut (for selenium). Lipophilic glutathione bypasses the stomach acid issue and is good if your levels are depleted by a physical event - such as sunburn, etc. - but can only be used sparingly and it is so strong. That's fantastic, Kris! I have a similar story... At the beginning of this summer, I developed peripheral neuropathy. I am not diabetic, so I was puzzled about the cause. It got so bad, that I went to the ER. After finding all my labs normal, the ER doctor said it could be due to a vitamin B6 imbalance. This is not the type of problem my primary care physician would want to explore, so I studied everything I could about B6 deficiency and B6 toxicity. I was also having insomnia (likely due to an increase in GABA at night ) - caused by elevated plasma PLP levels - PLP is the chemical - pyridoxine-5'-phosphate - used to supply B6 in supplements and fortified grains. I decided my issue was due to pyridoxine (B6) toxicity. I removed all sources of B6 from my diet - not just from supplements, but also fortified grains. Fast-forward to August, no symptoms of peripheral neuropathy or insomnia.

What great treatments! Another thing to consider is to try and figure out the root cause of the issue - and then discontinue whatever is causing the issue: I've stopped taking antihistamines because it causes me to have restless leg syndrome; I've stopped taking B6 (supplements & fortified food) because it causes me to have peripheral neuropathy; my husband has stopped taking whey protein because the histidine and NAC in it cause flare-ups with his immune system. Sometimes a take-away will resolve the issue.

ingrid! i hope the castor oil helps. i couldn't test this suggestion out myself because i have had cataract surgery and have artificial lenses in both eyes. Since glutathione is so important for eye health - I've found two good nutritional sources - one is a very inexpensive supplement, milk thistle ( a miracle supplement that stimulates your body to produce glutathione, thereby protecting your liver) - and non-alcoholic beer. We always use Creation Farm's Jewelweed Topical Mist on all insect bites - works very well - followed 15 minutes later by soaking the wound site in povidone/iodine. I've been following your story and praying for you. I would like to share mine, because I think we could have similar processes. You have had a hypertension crisis that is now resolved. I recently had a hypertension crisis caused by an allergic reaction to steroids. Mine is resolved. As a result of the crisis, my body was depleted of the stress vitamins: B6, B12, folate, riboflavin, plus iron. This depletion caused neuraligia in my limbs, buttocks, chest and lymph system. B6 deficiency also caused my insomnia. Once I supplemented with these vitamins - especially concentrating on B6 - which has an upper daily limit of 100mg and is used frequently to treat alcoholic neuropathy - my neuropathy and insomnnia symptoms have gone away. Eyes will benefit from vitamin balances, just like everything else... You might want to try these simple supplements - at least it's something you can do right away while waiting for additional medical treatment. All the BEST!. -Jane. 😊
