Good morning Urban! 😄

Is Charlie a wild squirrel you have won over or did you raise him as a pet?

Aw! How utterly adorable!
We don't know what became of Sandy. I wish we had just kept her and cared for her but we were in the middle of a 700 mile move to a new state. If I am in that situation again I will either raise the squirrel until it can be released or take it to my brother.
When I worked at the
Wildlife Care Center in
Fort Lauderdale…..
there was a standard
not to imprint the babies.
This allows them to be
returned to their natural habitat.
Some day you will be blessed again.
The Eastern Grey Squirrel is a favorite.
So smart.❤️
Are you rehabing any wildlife right now?
After Hurricane Wilma and Katrina
blew through South Florida….
the nursery was filled with
orphaned babies.
I rehabbed exotic birds,
opossums and
squirrels.
A baby raccoon came in
making the nursery infected.
Two of us got really
sick and the other lady died.
I coughed blood for two months.
Sadly that ended my work
in
Wildlife Rehabilitation.
Raccoons are easily imprinted and
carry Parvo.

That is tragic that you and your coworker got sick and she died as a result. I didn't know parvo could be passed on to humans. It is unfortunate that it ended your work in wildlife rehabilitation. Thank God you recovered.
