I'm no expert but I just want to get your gears grinding by offering my observations on this scripture.
•It could be incorrect as an interpretation, but the 'fire coming down in the sight of men' makes me think of DEW that was used to start wildfires in California and Hawaii.
•The oldest two versions available on Biblegateway.com are Wycliffe and 1599 Geneva and it is these 2 versions that say the 2nd beast gives the 1st beast a "spirit", while later versions only say a breath or a power to speak or be animated.
•The 1st beast is fatally wounded in the head. The older versions refer to a sword. Notice the head is wounded and not decapitated as you might expect from an actual sword. I think a bullet could be a sword to an ancient prophet whose never seen a gun. My mind goes to JFK's assassination.
• Everyone is forced to get the mark, but it seems by that point anyone who refused to worship the image of the 1st beast was killed already.

Revelation 13 tells us that there are 2 beasts, not calling either one "the" antichrist.
The first beast is killed by a deadly headwound.
The second beast revives the first beast and makes a speaking image of him.
The second beast requires all to worship the image of the first beast, and if you don't, you'll be killed.
Everyone who worships the image of the 2nd beast gets a mark of some sort that allows them to buy and sell.
The mark is variably characterized as a character, or a number that symbolizes the beast's name.
I think it is the first beast who is symbolized by the mark.

The Mark of the Beast is told about in the Bible's book of Revelation, chapter 13.
