Beloved Jesus,

I want to be all Yours! I invite You to wean me from other dependencies. You have shown me that my security rests in You alone-not in other people, not in my circumstances.

Trying to depend on only You sometimes feels like walking on a tightrope. Yet I don't need to be afraid of falling because Your everlasting arms are a safety net underneath me.

RELAX IN MY HEALING PRESENCE

Relax in My healing Presence. As you spend time with Me, your thoughts tend to jump ahead to today's plans and problems. Bring your mind back to Me for refreshment and renewal. Let the Light of My Presence soak into you as you focus your thoughts on Me. Thus I equip you to face whatever the day brings. This sacrifice of time pleases Me and strengthens you. Do not skimp on our time together. Resist the clamor of tasks waiting to be done. You have chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from you.

Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O LORD. PSALMS 89:15

RELAX IN MY PRESENCE

Relax in My Presence, knowing that nothing can separate you from My Love. The worst-case scenario in your life-that I might stop loving you-is not even in the realm of possibility. So rejoice that you don't have to perform well enough to earn My Love, or to keep it. This Love is pure gift, flowing out of My own perfect righteousness. It secures your connection to Me-your Savior-for all eternity.

Since the worst thing imaginable is not possible, you can relax and live more abundantly. When things are going well in your life, I want you to enjoy those good times fully-without worrying about what is on the road ahead. When you are facing tough times, I will help you and strengthen you with My Love. Even though you live in a world where trouble is inescapable, you can be of good cheer because I have overcome the world!

I AM YOUR JOY!

These four words can light up your life. Since I am always with you, the Joy of My Presence is continually accessible to you. You can open up to Me. Try saying, "Jesus, You are my Joy." My Light will shine upon you and within you as you rejoice in Me, you Savior. Ponder all I have done for you and all that I am to you. This will lift you up above your circumstances.

When you became My follower, I empowered you to rise above the conditions in your life. I filled you with My Spirit, and this Holy Helper has limitless Power. I promised that I will come back and take you to be with Me in heaven-that you may by where I am forever. Whenever your world is looking dark, brighten your perspective by focusing on Me. Relax in My Presence, and hear Me saying, "Beloved, I am your Joy!"

TRANSFORMATION

Do you want to be new?

All around the world, humans long for change. We long to throw off old habits and ways of thinking if they aren't serving us anymore. Thousands of self-help books, podcasts, articles, all kind of media exist for this very reason. We want to change! And yet, it can feel impossible! Paul, one of Jesus' disciples, shares this powerful truth in Romans 12:2 (NIV):

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Transformed by the renewing of our minds. What does this mean?

Transformation is a massive change. It's thorough. Complete. A total difference. Like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly, transformation brings an end to the old and a beginning to the new.

SPEAK, LORD, YOUR SERVANT IS LISTENING

The Lord called, "Samuel, Samuel." Samuel didn't recognize the Lord's voice. Now, imagine the Lord calling your name. Would you recognize His voice? I'm sure I have missed it many times in my life. Samuel needed Eli to help him understand what was happening and once he understood, he immediately said yes. In order to hear and understand the Lord's call to us, some things are necessary. First, we need some quiet in our lives. The world is full of noise. Some of this noise is unavoidable - traffic, construction, machinery, etc. - but much of it we inflict upon ourselves. How much time do we spend listening to the radio, the television, video games, idle chatter? In order to hear the Lord, we need to turn away from the noise and turn toward the Word of God.

God, thank You for the perfect peace that comes from being Your child. And it's through nothing I've done, but by faith alone. I love that I can talk to You at any time. You embrace me like an innocent child despite my mess and mistakes. Thank You for this undeserved gift! In Jesus' Name, Amen.

A PRAYER FOR FORGIVING OTHERS

God, thank You for choosing to forgive me. I don't deserve Your forgiveness, but I know You are good and loving. I want to be like You, and because You have forgiven me, I want to forgive others. Help me each day to remember Your gift of forgiveness, and release my anger towards those who have wronged me. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

IT'S A NEW DAY

It is again the beginning of another January. Most of us have heard that scary 'resolution' word thrown around the conversation in our homes, offices, and friendship groups. It's easy to make a resolution, but as we all know, sticking to the things we resolve to do is another story.

While exploring some incredible UK waterfalls, I was hit with the idea that water is determined to find its destination. I became fascinated by the small trickles eroding paths along the way in hopes of finding the river. Water has the ability to forge a new path, even though it could take years to do so.

Simply stated, a 'resolution' is a firm decision to do something. But the action of 'resolve' carries with it a deep determination to see that resolution played out. Like those small trickles of water, it make take numerous attempts, but it will find a way to the goal.

A BLESSING FOR THE NEW YEAR

A new year, a new beginning, a chance to start over! Tradition says this is a time for resolutions to be made. We think about more exercise, a better diet, getting healthy, but what about spending more time on prayer, on picking up the Bible more often? We are not just physical beings, we are also spiritual beings. Just as it is important to take care of our physical health, it is important to take care of our spiritual health. When we take care of our spiritual self, we can deal more effectively with the concerns of the day. Every day brings us news of the chaos and confusion, the violence and fears our world is facing. If this is all we think about, even our health can suffer-headaches, an increase in our blood pressure, sleepless nights!
