As an RN I would never agree to inject anyone with an experimental injection. As a nurse we are required to understand the action and side effects of the medication we are administering. Then we can successfully observe for those adverse effects and intervene appropriately, as well as observe for the correct response to the medication. For example injecting a medication to reduce high blood presdure, then check the patients blood pressure to make sure the blood pressure is reduced. The info sheets for these injections are blank, so the side effects, ingredients and action of the medications are unknown. It is dangerous to, and inappropriate for any nurse to inject a patient with an unknown substance, IMO.

One reason for the incompetence that you ( and I) have noticed is because students today are taught what to think not how to think. Nurses and other medical professionals must have the ability to think logically and critically. The ability to connect the dots, and prevent bad occurrences before they happen, and intervene to produce the best result.

Sorry to hear about your unjustice. I retired last year after 50 years of nursing. I too was taught critical thinking and spent my career in the ICU, CCU, ER and PACU setting. I saw over the years the disruption caused by multiple "regulating agencies" that came up with ridiculous guidelines and rules that had to be followed or else. Duplicate charting, crazy staffing based on numbers rather than acuity and age of patients, and on and on. I was a nurse clinical manager three times in my career as well. It is sad to see our noble, serving, profession in such shambles.
