I used to beg God to fix me all at once. Oh, how I wanted the pain gone overnight. An instant miracle to happen. For the fear to disappear the moment I whispered help.

I thought healing would come immediately.
A clean before and after story I could point to.

But God took me the long way…
The quiet way. The least expected way.
The way where you wake up one morning and realize you’re not drowning like you used to.

It wasn’t fast.
It certainly wasn’t glamorous.
It was messy and painfully honest.

Some days I hated the slowness. I thought it meant I was failing. I thought it meant I wasn’t strong enough or spiritual enough. But now I see what I couldn’t see back then…

Slow healing wasn’t punishment. It was preparation.

In the waiting, I learned how to breathe through the heaviness.
I learned how to manage my mind instead of being ruled by it.
I learned skills I didn’t know I was learning while I was just trying to survive.
