MY MESSENGER WILL PREPARE MY WAY

Only two more days until Christmas. Who is God calling to be His messenger today? Is it me, is it you? Maybe it's both of us. We are now on our twenty-third day of Advent, our season of preparation to receive our King once again as we also prepare for Him to come again. It's easier to get ready to celebrate Christmas than to prepare the way for Christ to come again. Scripture tells us we know not the day nor the hour. We don't know when He will come again in glory and we don't know when He will come for us as individuals. I don't worry so much about the end of the world as my end, but I do think it's important to help people realize that this is not our final home, that we can't wait until we're old before we clean up our act and turn to God.

We are called to follow Jesus from the time we first come to know Him until the day we meet in person. Death has no age limit. Too many of us know that. It is our responsibility as disciples to lead others to the true meaning of this season and the day we will soon celebrate. We help to prepare the way by the way we live, the example we give to others, the willingness to let others know how our faith brings us joy. The joy of Christmas is not only for the day or the season but also of the promise it contains within it.
