The story of Ishmael is very sad. He was also a son of Abraham by a handmaiden named Hagar. She was "ordered" by her mistress to submit to Abraham to give birth because Sarah was barren. But when her son was born, they were sent out of the encampment. Still the angel of the Lord assured Hagar that her son would also father a great nation. Hence the enmity between the Arabs and the Israelis. However, God loves all of his creations - even those of us who falter in our faith. Genesis 16th chapter. I pray that there will be a time reconciliation between the generations of the two sons of Abraham. They are half brothers and both creations of God Almighty. Perhaps this will be that time.
