I think we are close!
BT, or British Telecom was placed on the Meta platform Dublin some time ago. Which seems odd, as it WAS still part of the EU. That indicates to me the EU is no more, and Ireland is now one again and part of the United Kiingdom.
BT sent an email maybe 2 or 3 years ago that by 2025 the phone service would go digital. That means it must be reconnected to a router, connected to your computer.
I've had a warning notice that it will happen soon, within a couple of days I got a notice it would go live on March 10. Emergency services would only be available by mobile phone if there was a power cut. I don't have a mobile, no need, so I had to phone BT to report this. They will send a new router out on the 6th, and once live on the 10th they will send a battery pack to plug into the new router for mobile connection.
