BT, or British Telecom was placed on the Meta platform Dublin some time ago. Which seems odd, as it WAS still part of the EU. That indicates to me the EU is no more, and Ireland is now one again and part of the United Kiingdom.
BT sent an email maybe 2 or 3 years ago that by 2025 the phone service would go digital. That means it must be reconnected to a router, connected to your computer.
I've had a warning notice that it will happen soon, within a couple of days I got a notice it would go live on March 10. Emergency services would only be available by mobile phone if there was a power cut. I don't have a mobile, no need, so I had to phone BT to report this. They will send a new router out on the 6th, and once live on the 10th they will send a battery pack to plug into the new router for mobile connection.

I'm in Wiltshire UK, and my main phone is also my LL, my mobile is a basic button payg for emergencies only,

So I phoned Plusnet (who are my service provider for LL + desktop-internet), 'cos I still have a BT phone #.
I was told that it's only the curly-cable ph's that wont work, and as mine has a cordless hand set and sits in a base that's connected by cable to the BT wall socket, I should still be fine..😕. anyway I did a bit of looking up about it and decided in the end it will all probably be fine. I've heard nothing other then that.
My phone is connected by cable, RJ11 ends. It is connected to a dual BT master socket which has the phone and internet cable connections separately. The internet cable stays put, I think it has a combo RJ11 & RJ45 for the router.

The instructions say I have to disconnect the phone cable from the main socket and reconnect to the green socket on the new router. The battery pack also connects to the new router to give mobile connectivity.
I imagine your phone has the capability to remotely connect to your router. My phone is a BT decor 510 I bought cheap on ebay, works well. I rarely use it.
I never trusted remote connections as they can be intercepted. I must admit to feeling a little smug as I haven't had to outlay on a mobile. 😂
I asked the BT rep is it to do with the QFS. She spluttered, said what, I replied Quantum Financial ...
