Not so fast on everyone. There are people who don't recognize abuse the way I do. I have called the sheriff on two separate occasions in the past 15 years about something that did not seem about a child. The first time, the officer told me to contact CPS. I tried that and waited on hold for an hour before I finally gave up. Second time the deputy did come out a follow up on my concern. If people want to be a part of this effort and willing to go through some vetting, of course they could be deputized. I wish I could do something more, but at my age, I just do not have that option. Still I do keep my eye on children when I am out and if I see something I will say something.
