Just called a friend that is about 10 miles north of Tampa and he said he was going to stay at one of the local shelters. I told him he better get out of the state of Florida don't even chance it.

I saw a video of the highway leaving Florida. It's jam packed, bumper to bumper. One woman said she was waiting until the traffic broke up before leaving.
I was afraid of that and I don't think the traffic is going to let up with 20 million people in Florida, it's only going to get worse

Yep. People who stay always say later they wish they hadn't. It's not just the initial hell of the storm going through. It's the aftermath of no power, no water, no ac, no gas stations, no ATMs, no ice, no hot showers, etc etc. The aftermath is 10x worse and lasts 10x longer. For those who have the means, they should head north for a week or two.
