It turns out pets also have last wishes before they pass.
The specialist replied without hesitation that the most difficult thing for him was to see old or sick animals searching for their owners before they fell asleep. 90% of owners don't want to be in a room with a dying pet. People walk to avoid seeing their animals pass, but they don't realize that in these last moments of life, their pet needs them the most.
Don't forget that you were the center of her life. Maybe they were just a part of yours, but they are also your family. Even if it's difficult, don't leave her.
It is very painful for veterinarians to see pets failing to find their owners in the last minutes of their lives. They don't understand why their person left them. Veterinarians do everything so that the animals are not so afraid, but they are completely alien to them. Don't be a coward because it's too painful for you. Think of the animal. Bear this pain for her sake. Be with them to the end.❤️

You are so right.
Cats and dogs are so amazing. For many of us, it is much more painful when they go than when a human passes.

Older & wiser. Have the scars to prove it.

When it became evident our last dog needed to be put to eternal sleep due to an advancing oral melanoma, we chose to sit with him under a tree outside holding our 90 pound Labrador in our laps as our dear vet administered the medication. We prayed over him, petting him as he died. It is not only good to be with your pet, but the memories, though heartbreaking, are also tender. 💔

I rocked my 21 yr. old girl for 2 full days before taking her to the vet...I don't think I've ever cried and prayed that hard......I held her while the vet gave her the shot. I love that dog....I believe she was an Angel dog..... Great memories!

When my little girl wasn't doing well I picked her up and laid her on my chest holding her till she took her last breath.
I was greatful I was able to be home for that. She was the sweetest little dog, had her since a puppy and lived almost 13 years.

They are a part of the family and should be treated as such. I believe most people do and some love their pets more than family. They are so loyal and loving. Amazing animals.

I just let my precious cat, Emily, cross over last week. I was with her the whole time. Just talking to her & stroking her fur. I'm just devasted, but I couldn't let her suffer.

😭 My sweet daniff took her last breath here in my lap.
My grandpup, couldn't watch that one. She has so much fluid. It still breaks my heart that we wasn't in there with her.
They both got sick oit of nowhere a few months apart, overnight!
I miss my sweet lil fur babies.
We can learn so much from them.

Hard truth.

It is also important to let pets who outlive their human see their person's dead body so they can understand that their person didn't abandon them and leave them always wondering if they may return some day.

Pets understand death but don't understand abandonment.

Also important if you have two pets.
I lost my sweet Maggie kitty in 2020. When she died in my front bedroom/office, I left her on the rug for 24 hours so that my younger kitty, Leo, could process the loss. She was with him his entire life, and I wanted him to process her death and not wonder what happened to her if she just went missing one day.
