You must be referring to the religious propaganda about pagans.
To celebrate and express gratitude for nature and it's bounty is not worshipping.
To recognize the seasons, the effects of pull of the moons gravity (excellent facts for this),
to know how the Sun affects plants and all life,
is Knowledge, not worshipping.
To worship the sun, the moon, Saturn, gods, etc - that is the basis for all religions.
The "church" married their astrotheology with the pagan lifestyle in order for the church to be accepted by the masses.
