If we knew the scale of the genocide when in progress then it would make it worse so we wouldn't know the scale of the genocide after all.
So better not to know until it's over.
It's like watching a horrific slow motion train wreck and feeling mostly helpless to stop it........... but then - seeing one you can touch here or there......... and knowing the vast devastation, hoping you're wrong, and knowing there is one life where perhaps you made a small difference.
