Intermittent fasting is the best way to start out. Don't eat after say 6:00 or 7:00 PM. Skip breakfast have black coffee or tea only and then eat around lunchtime. I've been doing it for. 5-6 years now.

I would advise folks to start with a 16:8 ratio or even lower (16 hours to fast, 8 to eat) before working up to the 18:6 ratio
