I have got more mental health value out of my local duck pond than pretty much anything else I have ever tried in life!

I feel the same way about my chickens.

We assume their (ducks/chickens) society lacks complexity. Then we observe, and discover it is more subtle than we imagined... Then, we are hooked, watching their interactions 😊

It requires concentration, to notice their small communications - so we become absorbed, shutting out everything else, for a while.

Our brains are able to get out of their rut for a bit of a breather.

"Watch the water" has a new and improved meaning. I had ducks for years and they are such comical critters.
