China posts world record $1.19T trade surplus as Carney begins Beijing visit

China reported the world’s largest trade surplus on record last year as its export growth accelerated into markets across Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia, flooding global supply chains with manufactured goods.
China’s overall trade surplus hit $1.19 trillion in 2025, a 20 per cent increase from 2024, citing figures released Wednesday by China’s General Administration of Customs.

For December alone, China posted a surplus of $114.14 billion, propelled by surging exports to multiple regions outside the United States, the paper reported.

$242M taxpayer dollars later, First Nation still faces water crisis!

Despite hundreds of millions in federal taxpayer dollars poured into the community over nearly two decades, Kashechewan First Nation is once again in crisis, suffering a severe water shortage that has forced an evacuation.

Kashechewan First Nation, a fly-in Cree community of about 2,300 people on James Bay in remote northern Ontario, is under a “do not consume” short-term water advisory. As of Tuesday, nearly 700 of the 2,200 residents had been relocated to Timmins, Kapuskasing, Kingston, and Niagara Falls, with more departures expected.

Three professors argue that animated Hollywood films promote White privilege and "racist cultural narratives," according to their new academic analysis.

Natalie Khazaal, director of the Middle Eastern and North African studies programs and associate professor of Arabic at Georgia Tech, Ellen Gorsevski, associate professor at Bowling Green, and Tobias Linné, head of the communication department at Lund University in Sweden, recently co-authored a paper lamenting racism and White privilege in Hollywood animated films.
