I’m asking for prayers for sister and BIL, his 95 year old dad fell and and broke his pelvis this morning…that’s worse than a broken hip and (usually ) living long after a pelvis fracture is shorter than a hip. Dino (BIL) lost his mother not long after my dad passed in 2023… we have my mom at home on hospice… it’s been a lot for all of us in a short time period. Prayers will be greatly appreciated AU family.. God bless each you!!

Is there something you are keeping hidden or secret from your family and friends? Why? When we sin or do evil, we try to keep it hidden because we know it is wrong and we are ashamed. In this way, darkness avoids the light for fear of being seen. Because God is holy, no sin can be hidden from Him. All sin will be exposed. If you have sinned and are hiding, confess and repent! Live in the way that you are not afraid to be in the light!

Dear God, forgive me for my wickedness and the times I tried to hide my sin from You. I know You know my every thought and deed. The world may tell us that sin is just an old fashioned idea, but when we ask ourselves if we would like to be treated the way we are planning on treating someone else, we get the answer. We never have to carry around the burden of our sins. Confession of our sins to a loving and forgiving God removes the burden from us and brings us a renewed sense of joy. Sometimes it helps to seek out a minister or priest if our guilt seems overwhelming. If not a religious figure, then perhaps a professional counselor or trusted friend is called for. No matter what road we choose, we should learn from David's example as well as from the example of Peter and Paul, and no sin is too great to be forgiven. Today is a good day to lay down whatever burdens you or I might be carrying and allow God to forgive us and give us that clean heart He has waiting for us.

DAVID'S PRAYER

Psalm 51 is David's prayer begging for forgiveness following his sins of committing adultery with Bathsheba and then having her husband killed in battle. He knew that he had betrayed his covenant with God, and is asking for another chance. We know when we sin - although that's not a popular word in today's world - and we need to beg forgiveness too. No matter how David might have tried to justify his actions in his own mind, he knew it was wrong. No matter how hard we try to justify our sinful actions, we know when we do wrong. Then it is necessary to try to make things right. If what we want to do is right or wrong, we have the Holy Spirit within us to help us. All we need to do is ask.

HOW TO START MAKING DECISIONS THAT HONOR GOD

Think back to a decision you made that you now regret. We've all done things that weigh us down and make us wonder, "Why do I seem to do what I know is wrong?"

The apostle Paul knew what this felt like...

"I want to do what is good, but I don't. I don't want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway."
Romans 7:19 NLT

The apostle Paul described this as a struggle between our old and our new natures.

Our old nature is marked by a desire to do whatever seems pleasing to us in the moment, regardless of the consequences. And while this might feel freeing at times, it ultimately leads to conflict, chaos, and destruction.

Before Jesus' resurrection, the Hebrew people kept this old nature in check by closely following the laws God gave to Moses. These laws were meant to help people draw near to God. But they didn't fix human nature--they revealed humanity's brokenness.

The law separated from God by revealing how far people naturally were from God. But all of this changed when Jesus arrived.

His life, death, and resurrection fulfilled the requirements God laid out in His law. His sacrifice gave us access to a new nature created after God's character, not based on our brokenness.

This nature is available to us through Jesus, because of Jesus. And when we receive this new nature, this is what happens...

- When God sees us, He sees Jesus in us. This allows us to pursue God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength without fear of losing His favor or love.

- Jesus gives us the strength to wrestle with our old natures and win. We can now overcome our tendency to make choices we regret by asking the Holy Spirit to help us make decisions that honor and reflect Jesus.

- Because of Jesus, we are no longer condemned. Even though we will still struggle between what's right and wrong, we are no longer enslaved to sin, or sentenced to an eternity separated from God.

Today, allow Jesus to show you what He has saved you from, and then take a few minutes to thank Him for all He has done for you.

God, when I come to You with humility, You never hold my mistakes against me. Because of Jesus' death and resurrection, all my mistakes are paid for. I never want to cheapen Your gracious gift by refusing to show mercy or kindness to others. So please remove any hurt or division from my heart, and show me where I need to do good to others.
