Grand Evening Inspiration

Paul and Silas were in a very discouraging situation - they had been arrested, beaten and placed in prison for doing nothing wrong. Anyone else in that given situation would have been in tears, discouraged by their circumstances. Paul and Silas chose to pray and sing hymns to God. This account ends with them miraculously escaping jail. Prayer can also help us in times of despair; it can open doors for the miraculous to occur. When we resort to praying, we are going over our emotions and setting our minds to God's faithfulness instead. That, in itself, is defeating the plan of the enemy, who was only interested in keeping you down.

Dear God, I thank You for Your faithfulness and the blessed assurance I have in You, that I am in Christ and He is in me. Father, I thank You that there is no situation that is bigger than You. Lord, I pray that in any time I find myself in despair, may I focus on You and Your goodness. I will always remain hopeful and I will find a reason to rejoice. In Jesus' Name, I Pray. Amen.

Jesus, thank You for showing me what unconditional love looks like. It's because You love me deeply that You ask me to love others deeply. Please help me with this. GOD'S WILL

God, it is Your Word that guides me. So please deepen my understanding of Scripture so that I can clearly know Your will. As I draw near to You, please show me what plans and desires I need to surrender, and which ones I should pursue. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

BE THE LIGHT, TO SHINE OUT OF DARKNESS

Just as Paul and the other apostles and disciples were sent to preach the Good News, we are sent by virtue of our baptism to be disciples as well. We gain confidence by knowing that it is Jesus who speaks through us when we are telling others about the joy of believing in His promises. Just as God had promised the Old Testament prophets that He would give them the words they needed when they spoke God's truth to the Israelites, Jesus will give us the words we need when we speak of Him and our faith. Most of us are not called to be ordained ministers, but we are called to witnesses of faith. We don't have to look for opportunities to speak to others, but we do need to take advantage of the opportunities that God provides for us.

Dear God, I ask that You provide me with wisdom for the areas in which I lack it. I desire to follow Your guidance and no one else's, because only Your wisdom is profitable. In Jesus' Name, I Pray. Amen.

The best one to turn to, in times where we need wisdom, is God. God is the one who holds all wisdom that is profitable to our lives. When we ask, He will readily give. We can receive wisdom in many ways - through other believers, through reading God's Word, and through prayer as well.
