Last weekend we visited one of the oldest sandstone quarries in Western Europe. The quarry in Bad Bentheim in Germany, 20 km from our house. The sandstone is used in almost the entire world. What is special is that the sandstone of the enormous base of the Statue of Liberty in New York also comes from this quarry, which is more than 1000 years old.
Take a walk most mornings on a 100+yr old golf course. There is a bench on the eighth tee where I make the 1st stop. Burned into the backrest is 'in Memory of Bill Basista'. 2 4X4's sunk deep anchor it permanently. "Morning, Bill!"
Usually, I'll continue on to the farther bench on the 17th tee, where you can look directly at the sunrise as it breaks the horizon.
One morning just after thanksgiving, when I got to the spot it was gone! As though it had never been, and the name on the back that I had greeted dozens of times by now was gone too. Could not remember the name on the bench.
There were wind damaged trees in both timelines, but they were slightly different.
It was real, and it happened to me
