Going through this Great Awakening while physically in Britain yet socially in America is an odd experience. There is no real MAGA equivalent here, no Trump, no 2nd Amendment, no proper “red state” territory, no obvious power tussle. It is a constant experience in contrasts, yet alao offers perspective. I get to photograph the iconic local landscape, which seems exotic to most of my audience. Conversely I get to take stories from daily life in America and they inform conversations with friends here. Am bridging two worlds, but not fully in either.
I'm with you. I feel more American not British - I don't even know what it is to be British anymore. Yet I live here feeling like a foreigner. Perhaps more of an alien?
