To get people to wake up you make them defend things that are embassaringly wrong and obviously false. The fear of mocking for complicity in wicked deceit has to be greater than the dread of a dented pride for a change of mind.
I'm thinking that the 4% to 6% lost forever, is actually closer to 8%+.
