Repeat something 400-600 times in a reasonably close time frame and people will start to subconsciously repeat the same thing to themselves.
They may not support the exact claim cognitively but their subconscious will veer them to ideate thoughts that tend towards what was repeated.
It will come out as a personalized justification towards the same claim. and the person will be convinced that they are the originator of that idea.
Sometimes, when people are not too involved in thoughts about this subject, it will come out as a reflex. It's very potent.
This observation about repetitions is what lead to the development of behavioral therapy. One of it's core technique is to break the repetitions that you create using your inner voice in order to allow you to reassess the state of affairs anew instead of auto-brainwashing yourself constantly.
Only, this repetition can also come from the exterior world.

It's Called FRAMING THE NARRATIVE. The Media Places whatever Information It Considers Important into a "FRAME of Reference" through which other People can Access that Information.
If the People who Listen to the Media don't have a Well-Honed Sense of PERSONAL "Frame of Reference," they Unquestionably Accept whatever Narrative is Presented to them.
The Entire Debacle known as Russiagate is the Ultimate Example of this. The Mockingbird Media Literally Spent the Entire Four Years of the Trump Presidency, in an Ultimately Futile Attempt to FRAME TRUMP and Convince People that Trump and the Patriots who Support Him were/are Guilty of EVERYTHING that the DEEP STATE DEMOCRATS AND RINOS have Already have Done or INTEND on Doing.
They WEAPONIZED the FBI, the Department of Justice and other Agencies and even "FRAMOUS PEOPLE"/Celebrities and either Paid or Bribed them into Participating in this All Inclusive FRAMING.
