I am beginning to wonder about the need for gold. A currency LIKE XRP has a total number of coin. There will never be more. If a countries currency was designed the same, (say no more than 500 Billion), then the value of that currency, (in relation to other currencies), would be directly related to the demand for the countries economic output. i.e. if your country is productive your coin is valuable. If your country is unproductive your coin is worth less. The demand might be for goods and services or because it's a destination...

We've been on gold back currency though and they got rid of it with ease. I think a combo of gold backed currency together with decentralized crypto may be the plan. Much more difficult to manipulate a decentralized currency. Crypto buyers are smart, if one crypto is compromised, they can move to another.
