b) It's an arm with a TOURNIQUET, as used nowadays to give blood!
c) It is holding up a RING (think Solemani, HRC, Podestas etc.)

9) Finally, we get to the Etymology of SCHWERIN which is also the capital city of the Duchy of Mecklenburg (link):

The name of the city is of Slavic origin, deriving from the root "zvěŕ" (wild animal) or "zvěŕin" (game reserve, animal garden, stud farm)

Think along the lines of the predecessor to Black Forest hunting parties.
