Maybe it would be a good idea to give "Freedom of [Insert Your Country]" to people who are not citizens but who make significant personal efforts on its behalf? https://www.gresham.ac.uk/lectures-and-events/sheep-across-london-bridge-the-freedom-of-the-city-of-london Rather than the right to bring sheep into town as the benefit, it could be like a lifelong "welcome" mat, conferring the normal rights that tourist and work visas might offer. Basically it's a way of saying "proven to be on our team, so deserves some recognition for it, even if a citizen of elsewhere".

Hmmmm.... no . We’ll just send a thank you note instead from the US . Nothing can be taken for granted regarding our country anymore . Pass .
