sadly, bought 'spring water' from a major retailer and when it was boiled it turned cloudy indicating massive amounts of calcium carbonate which can slowly turn bone brittle and fuse joints. even their water is poison ☠️

Totally agree! the heating element on my distiller fried from the build-up of calcium deposits that jammed the float so whilst waiting for a new one, had to use bottled water run through a Berkey water filter as our tap water is loaded with calcium carbonate but not nearly as much as what's in those plastic bottles from untold sources.

I am a pretty new Berkey owner, first filter, no other experience. Are they as good as they claim? I have not sent out a sample. Have you?
Haven't taken in a sample but I go by taste and feel. They are great but they don't do everything. if you have hard water, lots of calcium, it doesn't take out minerals, a distiller will. Travel Berkey's are amazing but it didn't work for the water in Mexico for some reason. I think it's too polluted, it always tasted rank. It takes out toxins, smells and chloramines but you need a special filter to remove fluoride. I love that they are gravity fed.
