How many tourists have ever gone to DC, grabbed some dinner and then strolled over the White House to check it out for the first time only to find it's completely dark? lol. This is not a "thing" guys.

it doesn't make sense - i've seen a few articles saying sometimes the WH lights go out at 11pm. still isn't vibing w/me.....
just watched a live video streaming an hour ago yes it is dark, yes the security guard says it goes out every night at 11pm
