I live in northern Canada. Snow comes in many different forms - sticky, dry, fluffy....The colder it is the dryer the snow I find. We have a lot of snow falls where you cannot make snow balls. We have had day after day of brutally cold weather and very little snow fall for the season.
i guess it smells like melted plastic too.
Can't say I've smelled anything. LOL. But I have seen every type of snow that can fall and it is very common to have snow that will not form a ball and clump together. I grew up with red and black snow from sulphur stacks in smelting, but that is long gone.
