The group rejected an amendment by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) that would have eliminated $5.1 billion in refugee welfare funding from the major government spending package.
Paul's amendment failed 32-67, with all Democrats opposing it and a split among Republicans—32 supporting the cut and 20 voting to keep sending tax dollars to refugees .
