The United States needs to control Greenland because there is a portal located there. Trump stated in his speech at Davos that controlling Greenland is necessary to protect America—and the rest of the world—from bad actors, (including interplanetary ones).
This portal allegedly leads to other parts of the universe. Most people do not understand what is truly at stake, which is why this issue could ultimately become something that unites all of humanity.
