I worked with a woman who took care of her grandchildren after her daughter passed away. She was given aid and lived on that for years. One of the children was so disabled that she died in her teens. The woman is working at 75 because she didn't contribute to Social Security all those years. Anyway, that's what she told me. Who knows.
