Why Did God Close the Way to the Tree of Life? πΏπ₯
(Genesis 3:22β24, KJV)
When God shut the way to the Tree of Life, it was not an act of cruelty β it was an act of mercy.
Sin had entered the world. Death had begun its work. And if fallen man had eaten from the Tree of Life in that condition, humanity would have been locked forever in corruption, separation, and spiritual death.
So God intervened.
π βLest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever.β
β Genesis 3:22 (KJV)
God did not close the way to life to destroy man β
He closed it to save him.
The Real Issue Was Not Physical Death β It Was Spiritual Death
Adam and Eve did not die physically the day they sinned β but they did die spiritually.

π βIn the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.β
β Genesis 2:17 (KJV)
That death was separation from God.
If man had eaten from the Tree of Life in that fallen state, he would have lived forever cut off from God, with no hope of restoration.
So God placed cherubim and a flaming sword β not to torment man, but to preserve the plan of redemption.
π Genesis 3:24 (KJV)
Death Became a Temporary Pause β Not the Final Word
Because the Tree of Life was closed, something greater could later be opened.
Death became temporary.
Redemption became possible.
Resurrection became the goal.
π βFor as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.β
β 1 Corinthians 15:22 (KJV)
The closed Tree of Life in Genesis points forward to the opened Tree of Life in Revelation.
π βTo him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of lifeβ¦β
β Revelation 2:7 (KJV)
What was shut because of Adam is restored through Christ.
Godβs Plan Was Always Redemption, Not Destruction

From the very moment man fell, God was already pointing toward the cross.
π βThe seed of the woman shall bruise the serpentβs head.β
β Genesis 3:15 (KJV)
The flaming sword would later fall β not on sinful man β but on the sinless Son of God.
Because Jesus took death, believers receive life.
