New Yorkers will pay more to ride buses and trains beginning Sunday as the MTA rolls out a systemwide fare hike approved earlier this year.

The MTA board approved the fare increases in September.

The city does not control the transit system. While Mayor Zohran campaigned on making buses free, the MTA oversees subway and bus operations.
