The black is from the flame, it's soot. Orange flames are known as being "dirty" flames. Try with a blue (clean) flame by using a small gas torch, shouldn't see black. If you do I'd be surprised.
Although, the fact it's not melting is concerning. Shows it's most likely synthetic or modified.
