LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Wednesday night, ABC pulled Jimmy Kimmel’s Late-Night show indefinitely after his comments on Charlie Kirk’s killing last week.

The move comes after a threat from the FCC.

Kimmel is just the latest public figure to lose a job over what they post or say about the case.

Mark Dotson, a professor with Cooley Law School said many people think the First Amendment protects all consequences of free speech, but it doesn’t.

Dotson said the First Amendment only protects you from government action trying to censor your speech; dealing with your boss is a different story.

“They can fire you for whatever they want to fire you for, as long as it’s not for discriminatory or prohibitory purposes like gender discrimination, or racial discrimination, so you can’t do that,” said Mark Dotson. ”If you like your job make sure you are consistent and adhere to whatever policy your company may have."
