Only 66 years from first flight to landing on the Moon in 1969.

Here we are, 76 years later cannot yet return to the Moon. We should have been on Mars by now.

So if you're in space at minus -450° F
And land on the surface of the Moon at over 260° you would have over a 700° temperature change within seconds.

I would think pretty much any material at that degree temperature change so quickly would shatter.
