For a certain period late 2000s we were really struggling and often bounced several checks in a month's time which thank God we were able to cover but not without much added expense. The good people at BOA were charging I think $35 per at the time when I noticed something else clever they would do. Instead of covering the *most* (smaller) checks they could with our remaining balance they would cover the *largest* one(s) first effectively causing more checks to be bounced than would the other way. Telephone conversations w/ their customer service went nowhere when that practice was pointed out. Just 'the luck of the draw as they come in' they would say but funny how just un'lucky' we seemed always to be.
I'm now in a very small rural *state* bank w/ only two branches and though I'm not in a position of necessarily bouncing checks anymore the difference in the way they treat their customers is as far from the BOA's as 'the east is from the west'.

God Bless you and I truly feel for the struggles you have been through....Growing up we had the same thing and then early in my marriage too...I can also attest that the banks just make it so much tougher with all the fees and fines...Every time we got one step ahead, they put us two back and now also in a small local credit union.
