Around 2002-3 having moved to Nashville Tn I was at the DMV getting my license switched. It was totally packed and where I was sitting I could easily view the side managing driving tests and they were not only (obviously) allowing illegals to get DLs but if a new applicant couldn't speak or READ English and didn't have a friend who did, the STATE would PROVIDE them with RIDE ALONG INTERPRETERS.
The whole time I lived down there the numbers of car accidents caused by illegals had become a standing joke and how they didn't have to carry insurance, were never issued tickets and generally allowed to simply drive away from accidents they caused.
When my ex and I moved back to Texas in 2006 he had let his DL expire in the state we had lived. He had to jump through so many hoops to get it renewed. Born in Texas and had to go to Dallas to get a certified BC because they don’t take hospital issued ones. Meanwhile every illegal was getting them no problem. Texas and I’m sure other border states has been dealing with all this 25 years or longer. Just not at this scale. Same with accidents as there. My stepdaughter got hit by illegals in a U-Haul that didn’t have a DL. How do you rent a U-Haul without one? I travel a lot for work and use my passport except for renting a car. I guarantee I could not go up to any rental counter and get a car without one.

I know, utterly crazy ... this was going back to '02-3 and Tennessee's not even a border state and that DVM was PACKED
