Seniors go without food and heat and medical care because they don’t want to leave their home. They are harassed and harassed if they fall behind after paying off the home and diligently paying taxes for decades.
It’s abuse.
My 85 year old mother paid off her property over 30 years ago. She STILL pays nearly 7K in property taxes and it keeps going up. I can't wait until it's gone. Mine has gone up steady over the last 10 years
Property taxes may be one of the most horrible abuses of US citizens.
Hundreds of thousands have had to move and some probably never recover emotionally from it.
